Helicopter Spins Uncontrollably into Palm Fronds at Popular Southern California Beach
An aircraft flying over a popular California coastline unexpectedly started spinning wildly, finally dropping height and crashing into a line of palm fronds as onlookers watched.
Recordings posted on social media capture the chopper commencing to spiral above Huntington Beach then plunging near the border of the beach, where it gets stuck amidst palm trees and a set of stairs adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Update
The Huntington Beach fire department reported five persons were taken to hospital including two individuals who were in the helicopter and were “rescued from the debris” subsequent to the incident on that day.
Three persons on the road were injured. Details on their injuries were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.
Planned Function
Officials said the chopper was associated with an annual “Cars N Copters” benefit occasion set for the following day.
